A new 100,000 square-foot wheel production and tire distribution center was opened in City of Industry, California, last week by the Coker Group, and editors from High Performance Pontiac and other Source Interlink Media magazines were on sight to take it all in. They joined local dignitaries, elected government officials, and automotive celebrities at the January 22nd grand opening that included a custom car display, tours of the new facility, and live music.
The new facility serves several purposes as a steel and wire wheel manufacturing plant, tire warehouse, and distribution center, which allow Coker to easily assemble and ship products in the Western United States and the world over. The facility also features a small collection of vintage cars, motorcycles, and automobilia in a public display. The Coker Group will eventually hold regular visitor tours of the mini museum and guided tours of the wheel production facility where enthusiasts can watch their wheels being made.
"We were honored to celebrate the Grand Opening of our West Coast operation in City of Industry with so many California car guys, friends, business associates, celebrities and elected officials,” said Coker Group owner, Corky Coker. “While so many companies in the automotive aftermarket seem to be leaving California, we at Coker Group intentionally chose California with its huge automobile culture, availability of skilled work force, not to mention year round convertible weather. We now employ more than 40 California residents who produce steel and wire wheels and ship our collector tires and wheels from our new Los Angeles-area facility.”
