The recent blog on inviting custom-car builders to create a 2011 GTO much like current custom-car builders are creating 2010 and 2011 Trans Ams was written solely with the intent of bringing more post-Pontiac musclecars—whether one-offs or production cars—to the market and give Pontiac lovers ideas and options to keep the heritage of their favorite cars alive.
The blog relied upon industry information, which is verified—that Pontiac had developed an exciting new followup version of the modern GTO, which was— at one time in Pontiac's planning—scheduled to arrive in dealer showrooms at the same time as the 2010 Camaro. This is factual information.
This author is not a '04-'06 GTO hater, and in contrary, has considered buying one in a favorite (and rare) color combo, Impulse Blue Metallic with a Blue interior.
Please read the original post again if you have it or have seen it. The '04-'06 GTOs are not mentioned; any intent to imply them as "fake GTOs," ( a phrase that never appeared in the blog) or its owners as not part of the eclectic Pontiac hobby was not made by the author. Please let's enjoy the Pontiac hobby together, regardless of what year cars we all own, love, and enjoy.
You'll continue to see plenty of '04-'06 GTO coverage in High Performance Pontiac magazine, just like we've done since 2004.
