 Why didn't this movie influence young would-be Pontiac lovers as much as Smokey and the Bandit?

1. I love the movie Hooper.. I actually have an original movie poster framed in my living room from the movie. One of the best movies Burt ever made. But the car, although part of the key plot isn't on every frame of the film like the 77SE in smokey and the bandit. That's my theory anyway..
