1. There are alot more pontiac's made than studebacker,packard or desoto. The hobby will survive as long as there are people who enjoy pontiacs of all years and models.Pontiac was so important in creating the muscle car (gto, tri power,etc) that it will always be the focus of hobbist. You don't have to build new pontiacs to keep the hobby alive,we already have plenty of great ones still in our garages.

2. I agree, the brands mentioned above had some nice classics but they never had a real musclecar like Pontiac. Do I lament the passing of the name? Yes. Will I miss not being able to buy a rebadged, 1/2 plastic, wind tunnel blob? Nope! Wish I had the cash to buy a G8 GXP, just because they are the last of the breed, but it was not to be. Pontiac built the best in the past, now we true fans have a real excuse to live in the past!

3. Why wouldn't it survive? It has so far and pontiac made it's last performance car in 2002. After the demise of the firebird it died anyway.Now with all the aftermarket stuff being made for the classic poncho's they should be around for a long time.Of course Butthead outfits like barrett-jackson stay around, they will ruin the hobby for the rest of us eventually pushing prices ridiculessly high.
