 GM has committed the ultimate insult to Pontiac, and cancelled all of its cars for 2010 except for the Toyota Matrix rebadged as a Pontiac Vibe.

1. Screw government motors. They started killing pontiac back in 1968 when they stole the 1964 banshee design and called it their new corvette.They did it again in 1979 when they killed off pontiac engine division and started putting torqueless chevy smallblocks in firebirds.Pontiac has been dying a slow death since then they just didn't realize it.Let them try to make it selling luxo barges and overpriced 'vettes(like I tell my son a Corvette is what You buy when you have lots of money and no talent to build your own Hot Rod) I will never buy another "new" government motors vehicle ever. I will keep restoring the old ponchos.Again I say screw GM I hope they never recover.

3. Yes I am angered by this, Pontiac does have a place in GM, especially since GM Europe exists on paper now. I strongly disagree that Pontiac died in 1981 w/ the God aweful 301. Pontiac has had plenty of great cars after that time... the '82 T/A with the lowest GM drag co-efficient record, until just recently. There are plenty of examples of Great Ponchos. You only harm the hallowed Marque and younger owners, by downing Pontiac cars that have "Corporate" engines.
I'm 33 and the 3 generation of Pontiac lovers in my family, this is very sad, especially since I was thinking of buying a G8 this fall.

4. I agree that Pontiac died when the final 400 was installed in a Trans Am in 1979. There was a glimmer of hope with the 3rd generation Firebird. The bulge in the hood was designed to clear the turbo of the 301. Swapping in a 400 or 455 into a 3rd gen could have been as simple as replacing a 301 in a late 2nd gen. What could have been. Perhaps its better because it seems that almost every time Pontiac had a good idea for performance, Chevy cried foul and G.M. crushed it. I was mad when they did away with my 2nd favorite name plate Oldsmobile. Now that Pontiac is done I hope G.M. fails big time. Chevy fans beware because Pontiac was suppost to be the performance division of Goverment Motors and it got killed off. With the tree hugging goverment running G.M. it won't be long before they pull the plug on the Camaro and the Vette won't be far behind.

5. Is GM trying to commite suiced?What are they trying to say to the world? 'we don't stand behind our products".Part of me died when I heard about Pontiacs death.I Love my Pontiacs old and new, but I will never buy a new car again, from any manufacturer. I'll keep buying ,driving used Pontiac's until Im six feet under.

America needs to realize that there is nothing american about owning a import, and when icons such as Oldsmoble,and Pontiac die , part of america die's with it.
When we don't stand behind our industries we are only putting another nail in our great nations coffin.

6. Pontiac was "odd man out" because of GM's LOYALTY and US Gov.in depth to ...CHINA ...Think before you buy ! (fact Pontiac had several autos in high demand and beautiful new styles in USA )...another US trade agreement with China ...only matter of time China will destroy US car industries ..Thanks (GM )Government Motors )...this is FACT !!!
