1. Not particularily, the closest to a new Pontiac I've ever owned was a 97 GP SE that I bought used in spring of 99 and sold to make room for a minivan in 2001. While it was a great car to drive and mechanically was very reliable, the body had to be constantly touched up, especially the rocker panels. The slightest stone chip would rust instantly and within two years of selling it (to an aquaintance), the rockers were eaten thru terribly.
Losing Pontiac won't affect my hobby, because I haven't been able to buy parts from them for years any way.

2. Yes, even though I buy used eventually the market for good, low mileage, used Pontiac's will be gone.

3. Yes, Pontiac is one of the oldest car companies and without Pontiac(or Oakland as it was called) I don't think GM would have been as powerful over the last 75 years as it was.

5. I don't know. I suffered this loss with the Trans Am in 02 but always held out hope for the future. The demise Pontiac feels like it's 02 all over again.

Thank you you idiot Lutz for destroying the Bird. If I hear this guy described as a car guy one more time I'll hurl. Thank you you idiot Waggoner for destroying Pontiac.

7. They (Washington idoits) didn't like the plans GM had to re-orginize the Ponitac line-up; It wasn't "viable"!
This according to the email i received back from Pontiac. They didn't mention who said it wasn't "viable", but it's not hard to figure out. This is a sad day for GM and America. So here's the "change" you've all been waiting for?? Where are the jobs going? I thought Washington was going to help the US Auto industry, not kill it.
FORD- don't take any money from the gov., unless you want to go out of business (fast). What can be done to save Pontiac? Can some private (CAR GUYS) investors save it?

8. Hey pontiac fans, have any body seen the possible re-kit of the chevy camaro turning into a Trans Am? This is done by the company calling ASC, the same people who modifies Pontiac and Chvys for GM.The kit is not bad looking , but with a little help from Year One and H.H.P., we might have something to look for in the future and possible re-turn of the Pontiac.Hay Roger Pensky, if you are reading this, mabe you could aquire Saturn and Pontiac!

9. i got teary when i heard! i've been in love with pontiacs since i was 6. i am very sad to see them go. i was really hoping that they would come out with the firebird/ta again. and think that if they did they could/would still have a chance! :*(

Pontiac died in 1981 when they quit producing engines.

Must say that my story may beat yours... my letter to Pontiac basically stated "how come CNN is telling me you're closing your doors when pontiac has saved GM so many times 70's during the no performance car gas crunch, the eighties when performance was just coming back. That there are faithful fans awaiting a good looking car with a V8 and two doors that all don't look like a G6."

The best part is I sent that email on the morning of Apr 27th at work and by the time I had gotten home from work and just sat down, turned on the TV and their was GM's CEO saying "Pontiac's Closing it Doors." I mean as soon as I walked in the door.

Here's the part of the reply I got:

Contrary to media speculation, General Motors has not announced any changes to its long-term viability plan or to the future status of any of its brands. GM is continuing to review its restructuring plan to go further and faster and best ensure its future success. Additional information will be released as any decisions are finalized.

#8 may be right. The only way to keep Pontiac alive is to do it ourselves, I'm just surprised we all haven't banded together to petition GM and remind them of how stupid they are.

There just rebadged chevy's for the most part.
