 INFO FROM MECUM:

This Starlight Black 1965 Pontiac GTO is simply the finest original GTO in the world. It is completely unrestored and unmolested, having acquired a total of only 8,000 miles in its entire 44-year existence.

Presented as Lot S54, this GTOis scheduled to cross the block at approximately 12:05 PM Eastern on Saturday, May 16 - in front of a live national TV audience on HD Theater, Discovery Communication’s premier high-definition network. Watch your e-mail for more special car announcements.

Ordered from the factory by Ervin Motor Company of Vinton, Iowa, it was sold to its first owner Russell Pidima of Cedar Rapids on March 25, 1965.

Mr. Pidima ordered extensively from the GTO’s sizable options list to assemble an exemplary rendition of this breathtaking Pontiac classic. Beginning with the GTO package, the Optional Equipment and Accessories section of the Car Invoice lists no fewer than twenty items, including the 389 Tri Power with 4-speed manual, Saf-T-Track differential, metallic brake linings, padded dash, Rally gauges and tachometer, Soft-Ray tinted windshield, retractable seat belts, handling and ride package, two-speed wipers and radio delete. Interestingly, the Car Invoice contains this notation: “Car ordered with console which was not furnished”; it remains without one to this day.

Finished in its original Starlight Black paint trimmed with Montero Red pinstriping, the car retains its original interior, wheels and tires, and with the single exception of a replacement battery, its entirely original engine bay. Its extensive documentation portfolio includes the original window sticker, dealer invoice, bill of sale, Protect-O-Plate, owner’s manual and warranty card.

Simply put, this 1965 Pontiac GTO is a genuine treasure.
