On February 18, 2009, GM closed its High Performance Vehicles Operations team or HPVO for short.

Luckily, the high performance "halo" cars in Pontiac's lineup such as the Solstice GXP and the G8 GXP will not be affected. "Neither the Solstice GXP or the G8 GXP were developed at HPVO," said Vince Muniga of General Motors.
