      According to a published interview with Pontiac's Jim Hopson, Pontiac will be cut to less models than its current seven sometime in the near future.

      Likely, these four models will survive.

1. The atrocious G3

2. The rental car G5

3. The Vibe (a Toyota Matrix in disguise)

4. The G8 (the only good one of the four as far as long-time Pontiac loyalists are concerned).

What happened to making Pontiac the niche performance brand of General Motors?

1. If they ax the Solstice I'm going to be upset. That's a fantastic car that gives people an option over the Miata and MX-5. The GXP is a quick little car, too.

2. "What happened to making Pontiac the Niche performance brand?" GM and it's leadership! Those suck *ss fools who ran the company into the ground and had been doing so for years that's what happened!!

Think back to how Pontiac was in comparison to the world during each decade and see how with each passing decade since the 60's they've screwed it up more and more till they decided that Pontiac would be in direct competition with BMW...THANK YOU BOB PUTZ!!! Worst idea in the history of GM!!

Of course they will ax the Solstice, it's been selling. I can't understand why though with a name so girly as Solstice! Look at how they've screwed up year after year even on the small stuff. Aztec? What a joke!! G3...please...G this! What the hell happened to the pontiac brand names? Bonny, Prix, Am's? Names we all identify with, look even ford decided to bring the Taurus back due to name recognition and now the Festiva.

I've watched year after year as pontiac swelled prices on the best cars so high I could not afford the ones I wanted, and when I had to settle on a lesser Pontiac I couldn't even get a stick! I owned a 1992 Grand AM GT and a 1998 Grand am GT, the price new went up while the materials used got cheaper, more plastic in my 98 than in a kia! I would rather own another 92 than 98-04 Grand am!

Dropping the TA was hurtful to all Poncho fans but lets face it the car cost more to buy than most who wanted it could afford, and those that could would go buy Vettes at slightly more money. I loved the car very much but with a price tag almost double and in some cases it was double what the 3rd gen was I couldn't justify buying a new one.

The latest GTO we imported was a flop even though it met what I thought were good requirements for a GTO. RWD, V8, Manual Trans, 2 door, loud and fast....I personally liked the look of the car with duals and simulated ram air hood. Who would have thought that the retro look would have been at that exact time! I will hopefully own one down the road (way down with the economy).

Lets face it folks, GM's leadership put us here, and they had no clue what they were doing coming to this point, I don't see them having one going forward! As I've stated before, if Pontiac goes away I drop my support of all things GM! I won't buy Fords, and Chrysler may wind up owned by someone else I don't like...so I guess I find a way to like Nissan since I get a discount on them!!
