According to a news report published in this week's Boston Globe, Pontiac has made their plans for the 2012 model year, and it is potentially good news for Pontiac fans.
If you hated the G-something naming structure of Pontiac's plan to compete with the BMW, don't worry, most of them will be killed off.
G3-Gone by 2012 (Don't ask why they spent millions of dollars rebadging the Chevy Aveo to give it a three-year model life.)
G5-Gone by 2012 (It only sells 13% as well as the Cobalt. It won't be missed.)
G6- Gone by 2012 (It's not a bad car, but the Malibu is destroying it in sales. Go figure. The Malibu has a real name.)
Vibe-(Gone by 2012) (It's not a Pontiac, it's a Toyota, and it did nothing to help Pontiac's image in the marketplace.)
That leaves the G-8, great news for Pontiac fans who love Pontiac rear-wheel-drive performance.
And that leaves the Solstice, more great news for fan's of Pontiac's great styled roadster.
If you had to pick two models to leave in the current line up, Pontiac did it right.
Now it's time to add three more models to the Pontiac lineup and let's be clear, the G-name structure has got to go.
It's time for the Trans Am, the GTO, and the Bonneville to return.
...Maybe we'll know more for 2013.
