The threat is real...

The fate of the Pontiac division of GM is not the only thing that is in question, so is their motorsports activity.

Pontiac is one of the leading sponsors to the Grand Am series. The new G8 is the official pace car and the GXP.R is one of the most successful cars on the course. Racing against the likes of Porsche, Corvette, and Mazda, Pontiac has enjoyed success ever since they introduced the GTO.R, later to be replace by the GXP.R.

All victory and showcasing aside, this is a very costly endeavor for all teams that enter. Pontiac fields two Banner Racing GT cars and Daytona Prototypes and sponsor several others.

That's not all. If you watch the NHRA Powerade Series you'll see Pontiac all over the place. That's because they are again the official pace car, and field an handful of Pontiacs to compete.

Pontiac's involvement in motorsports has done a fair job at maintaining their performance image, but their motorsports involvement may be in jeopardy.

What do you think Pontiac should do in light of the economic state the General?
