How Far is Your Daily Commute?

Daily Commute

How far do you drive to get to work everyday or just throughout a regular day.

I drive roughly 16 miles to get to and from work everyday. Previously, I drove 25 miles. My GTO averages 17-18mpg when I combine city and highway. So it takes roughly 4.5 gallons to drive my weekly commute, compared to 7.1 at my old house.

The LS1 and LS2 GTO's require premium fuel. Let's average that at the current average, to be humble. $2.30 a gallon. It costs about $10.35 in the new location and $16.33 a week. Now let's try that with the lovely $4.25 a gallon gas prices of the last few months, shall we? No we really see the impact of fuel prices on daily commute. Currently, I would be spending $19.12 a week in my new location or $30.18 a week in my previous.

I have realized that I use a lot of gas, and probably 90% of my co-workers drive much further! We are feeding into our dependence on fuel and foreign oil.

How do you compare?
