Does Pontiac Need an El Camino-style vehicle? What do you think?

As Pontiac performance fans, we’re always excited when a new hi-po model is in the works, even if we don’t get exactly what we asked for. Hobbyists requested a GTO and/or Firebird and received the G8, G8 GT, G8 GXP and the G8 GT-based Sport Truck. While there’s little doubt that the G8 sedan variants will serve their respective markets well, what of the Sport Truck?

Does Pontiac need this vehicle? Or more importantly, does the American buying public want it? Would you buy Pontiac’s new Sport Truck in lieu of another model? If so, why? Would it be your primary transportation, a second car, or a weekend toy? How viable do you feel this model is to both fostering Pontiac’s performance image and to meeting its sales goals?

While we hope all Pontiac models are successful, the jury will be out on this one until the sales figures come in. Enthusiasm begins with the Pontiac faithful, you, so please let us know how you feel about the new Pontiac Sport Truck.
