Bill Glidden, son of legendary NHRA Pro Stock campaigner Bob Glidden, will unveil his new-look Mickey Thompson Tires Pontiac GTO at the Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals presented by Castrol.

The second-generation racer made his 2008 debut at the recent CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals, where he qualified 11th with a 6.694.

Glidden's efforts this season are being sponsored by Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels, which will be bannered on the good-looking Pontiac, acting as Mickey Thompson's tire development vehicle in association with its Big Tire Development program, initially unveiled in August 2007. Richard Maskin's Dart Machinery horsepower is under the hood.

“We are excited to support Bill Glidden as he races in the ultracompetitive class of NHRA Pro Stock,” said Ken Warner, vice president sales & marketing, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. “We look forward to working with Bill as a racer and as he continues to work cooperatively with us regarding our Big Tire Development program. As part of this important program, we will be gaining incredible real-world knowledge and data from these races and utilize input for the development of new competition drag tires.”

Glidden has been instrumental in developing Mickey Thompson ET Drag products. Glidden, a world champion Pro Outlaw racer, stated, “I'm extremely excited to work with Mickey Thompson Tires on this new program. I've used their products throughout my career and have always been impressed by their ability to develop products that are one step ahead of the competition.”

Glidden will compete with the Mickey Thompson GTO at the first five events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and possibly at races beyond that in addition to testing Mickey Thompson prototype Pro Stock tires, the technology from which could also be used in other classes.
