Should Pontiac offer a Modern 455?

Do you want to see a modern interpretation of the Pontiac 455 engine in upcoming Pontiac models?

With the corporate GM LSX block, it would be likely that Pontiac could produce a 455 ci smallblock. Would you be interested in one for your upcoming Fifth Generation Firebird or GTO? (No, we don't know which one it will be yet.)

How about a traditional 455 block outfitted with distributorless coil ignition, fuel injecters and throttle body linked to a drive-by-wire throttle pedal? What are your thoughts about that?

Should 455 HO be back on Pontiac hoods for 2010 and beyond? Share with us your thoughts and comments.

2. Since I have a 71 455 HO "XE" complete block with the round port 197 Heads sitting on the side of my house, I would love to see a new version only in a retro FIREBIRD. Make the updated parts available as a Kit so we can upgrade the existing 455 out there.

3. Yes, this would be one of the most accepted motors on the market. Pontiac fans would go crazy over this motor, buying them to install in there older Pontiacs so that they could use all the new tech. out there.

5. If it were to be dropped into a Firebird body I would be very interested in it -- but not in the 5th generation GTO.

I would love to see the 70-73 'retro' body style (is it possible that it is in the works to compete with the new Camero already?) and a 455 engine. Only question for me would be white and blue stripe or blue with white stripe.

Don't forget the shaker hood!

6. I would absolutely love it, but I would like it in an "a-body equivalent" such as a new GTO or the G8. We need some true big block engines to come back!

7. I hope it's as powerful, or bettar as my 1970 Pontiac SJ, 455. With 127,00 miles on the original motor it still was doing 5.5 sec 0 - 60 MPH times in this heavy car. My other 1970 Pontiac J ,400 (YS) motor, yes 400 GTO motor, (the 400 motor was rebuilt), seemed slower than the 455. The previous owner of the "j" model took it to the drag strip, in the quarter mile it did 14 seconds I was told, after he had it rebuilt. I know my 455 easily did bettar than 14 seconds, you could feel the difference. They both had TH 400,s, same axle ratio, but the 455 had 12 bolt HD non posi rear end, the 400 had a non posi 10 bolt axle. The SJ I sold, its still out there factory midnight black, but the 455 was replaced with a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix J 400 motor. Memories I still have 15 years later. Yes I would love to see the new 455 with even more power.

8. I for one would LOVE to see a modern 455! I've had alot of Pontiacs and other cars that I put 455's in and always thought how nice it'd be to have one with fuel injection and modern ignition. Talk about "super duty"!
PeterSJ455...My first car was given to Me by My mom it was a 72 Grand Prix SJ 455 and that car to this day is STILL the one I love the most!
I just bought My first ever Trans Am a 1980...more on that in the forums tho.

9. yes they need a pontiac engine and no not a 455 jesus christ im glad you can afford the gas it would take i would much rather see a 5.0 litre or a 5.7 maybe the 389 somthing smaller and make it new not gay give me dual over head cams lets face it in block cam is out dated northstar 4.4 303 hp ls4 5.3 305 hp you do the math i want a street machine to tear up rice burners not a sled that cant corner and sucks way to much gas get real people ! this is not 1970 this is 2008
